I remember my early days, I used to organise events and invite speakers in the same field as me purely because I was terrified to get up and talk. Firstly because English is my second language, second that I had fears and doubts though people were looking to pick on me. Here are few tips from me to you. But before I list them first of all please change your internal dialogue
One of the quickest and easiest ways to boost your confidence is to change the way you talk to yourself. When you’re getting ready for an event, it’s easy to let your mind run wild with worst-case scenarios. But if you want to stay calm and collected, it’s important to catch yourself when you start thinking negative thoughts and reframe them in a positive light.

For example, let’s say you’re about to get on the stage and you start thinking, “What if I make a mistake? What if I freeze up in front of everyone? What I am ridiculed?” Instead of letting those thoughts take over, try telling yourself something like, “I’ve prepared for this presentation and I know my material inside and out. I’m going to go out there and do my best.” Changing your internal dialogue from negative to positive will help increase your confidence and keep your anxiety at bay.

Here are few tips that I feel will help you;

  1. Understand That Everyone Has Fears and Doubts
    The first step to overcoming your fears is to understand that everyone has them. No one is immune from feeling fear or doubt at some point in their lives. What separates successful people from those who never achieve their dreams is that successful people don’t let their fears hold them back. They face their fears head on and they don’t give up
  2. Believe In Yourself
    The second step to overcoming your fears is to believe in yourself. You have to believe that you can do it, even when everyone else says that you can’t. When you believe in yourself, anything is possible
  3. Take Action
    The third and final step to overcoming your fears is to take action. You can’t just sit around and wait for things to happen, you have to make them happen. Get out there and start taking steps towards your goals, no matter how small they may be. Every action you take gets you one step closer to achieving your dreams.
  4. Remember that everyone is on your side. The people in the audience want you to succeed! They’re not there to see you fail or make a fool of yourself. Keep this in mind and it will help you relax and focus on delivering a great talk.

  7. Picture yourself being successful. Close your eyes and take a few moments to visualise yourself giving a great presentation or speech. See yourself as confident, poised, and in control. This positive visualisation will help to increase your self-confidence and ease your nerves.
  8. Dress for success. Make sure you wear an outfit that makes you feel confident, reflects your personality and aligned with your message and branding.
  9. And Most Importantly “Breathe” deeply and relax your body. Your breath is the medicine to all mind traps. Start by taking some slow, deep breaths. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. As you breathe, focus on relaxing each part of your body, starting from your toes and moving up to your head. This will help to physically relax your body and calm your mind.

Remember, don’t let your fears hold you back from achieving your dreams. If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way to make it happen. Understand that everyone has fears and doubts, believe in yourself, and take action towards your goals.
